High court ruling draws fire

CAPITOL HILL Congressional Republicans are livid about the Supreme Court decision that allows local governments to condemn people's homes to make way for private development.

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay calls it a "horrible decision" that leaves everybody's home at risk.

There's now a move to limit the impact of the ruling.

Republicans want to cut off federal funding to any local government that uses the ruling to condemn homes and businesses so they can be replaced by shopping malls and the like.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner says the federal government's money won't be used "to finance taking somebody's property."
